One of the great Tenyo inventors, Shigeo Futagawa, created this item, which is produced and distributed by Ton Onosaka. As you would expect from Onosaka, the props are high quality. As you would expect from Futagawa, the effect is fun and surprising.
Show a packet of four cards. Three are red backed “letter” cards. One if a blue backed card with a picture on it. The letter cards are shown singly, as a P, an O, and a T. The blue card is shown to have a picture of a pot. (A teapot, not a cannabis leaf!) The magician now reverses the letter cards, and shows that now they spell “top” — they are shown singly as T-O-P, and the blue card is shown again. Now it has a picture of a child’s toy top! The letter cards are placed on the table and the blue card is flexed, causing an actual wooden top to fall to the table. The blue card is shown again, and it has a shadowy blank spot where the top picture used to be!
The performance is relatively easy but does require a double lift. The appearance of the 3-D actual top is almost self-working, with Futagawa’s smart built-in misdirection.
Beautiful high quality cards, and nice wooden top, plus instructions (in English) by Phil Goldstein (aka Max Maven).
